Police find 'small cannabis plant' near Mount Carmel Forensic Ward

Analytic expert called in to examine plant found to be very similar to the cannabis sativa family.

Police are investigating what appears to be cannabis being grown next to the Forensic Ward at Mount Carmel Hospital.

A plant, suspected to form part of the cannabis sativa family, was found in a garden adjacent to the hospital.

The police has now ordered an inquiry and called in an analyst expert to analyse the plant for further confirmation.

Meanwhile, the police yesterday also arrested a 33-year-old man from Qormi after finding several cannabis plants being cultivated in a garage.

A total of 21 plants were seized. The investigation kicked off following reports of suspected activity in the locality and was concluded within days with the arrest of the man.
