Employee pleads guilty to Terranova theft

Second youth charged with theft and misappropriation from Terranova pleads guilty.

Employee Maria Victoria Agius, 21 of Paola, pleaded guilty to theft and misappropriate of items from Terranova, a clothes shop she was working in for two months.

The young mother admitted stealing items put for sale at the outlet. The court, presided by Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit, listened to the guilty plea and took into consideration the youth's clean conduct. She handed Agius a three-year conditional discharge.

The items stolen and misappropriated totaled around €1000.

The owners of Terranova held they owed Agius her final salary and both parties agreed this will not be paid in order to make up for the stolen items.

Two other female youths are undergoing separate procedures over thefts from the same outlet.

Noella Agius admitted to the charges and was given a six-month conditional discharge.  However she held the value of the items stolen was between €1.99 and €7.99 per item. The total value, she said, could not have been more than €70.

The compilation of evidence in the case of 24-year-old Sabrina Chetcuti is still ongoing. In the last sitting the prosecution claimed Chetcuti stole from the Terranova outlets on 10 separate occasions.
