Robbers get away with thousands in cash

A search is on for two armed men who stopped a car and ran away with thousands in cash earlier this morning in Qawra Road, Qawra.

The victim, a 54-year-old man from Birzebbugia, was stopped by two hooded men while driving his car. While one of them snatched the car keys of the Volkswagen Jetta, the other grabbed a bag with the money and fled the scene.

It is believed the bag may have contained around £10,000.

The robbers' car was later found burnt in the same locality. Two other cars were extensively damaged by the fire.
