Five charged with causing grievous bodily harm

Three minors among five accused with grievously injuring a foreigner.

Five youths, three of which are minors, pleaded not guilty to charges of causing grievous injuries to a foreigner.

Inspector Frank Tabone told the Gozo Courts that on the night of 15 August, the five youths assaulted a foreigner in Rabat, Gozo.

They were also charged with damaging his property.

The three pleaded not guilty and Magistrate Paul Coppini granted them bail against a personal guarantee of €500.

In a separate hearing, 34-year-old Somali national Farhan Ainab Mohamud, was charged with breaching bail conditions and relapsing.

He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody. A sentence will be handed down tomorrow.
