Six months imprisonment after threats to former wife
A man who kept harassing his estranged wife was jailed for six months and ordered not to approach his former partner.
Carmel Blundell, 52 was jailed for six months after threatening and harassing his estranged wife. He admitted the charges.
Magistrate Doreen Clarke heard how the accused went to St Christopher Street in Valletta and threatened his former wife. The incident happened yesterday, with the accused being under a probation order.
In May 2011, Magistrate Anthony Vella had already found Blundell guilty of similar offences.
When delivering the sentence, Magistrate Doreen Clarke asked the accused if he fully understood the seriousness of the charges against him. She reminded him he could not contact in any way his former wife. The magistrate placed the victim under a protection order for a period of three years.
Inspector Godwin Scerri prosecuted while legal aid lawyer Yana Micallef Stafrace appeared for the accused.
