Bulgarian boyfriend conditionally discharged over lovers' spat
Police help estranged husband rescue his former wife from the clutches of her ex-boyfriend.
A concerned husband asked for Police assistance when his wife's Bulgarian former partner called at the woman's residence and terrified her and their young daughter.
Magistrate Natasha Galea Scibberas heard how the police went to the woman's residence with her former husband and found her partner drinking in front of the door. After entering the residence the police found the terrified mother and daughter locked in a wardrobe.
The woman claimed that she had been living with her Bulgarian ex-boyfriend but they fought and she went back to her former husband. She alleged that on the previous day, she had argued with her ex-boyfriend during which argument he hit her and caused her slight injuries.
The Bulgarian pleaded guilty to the charges and held he had gone back to his ex-girlfriend's residence to take back her key to his apartment.
Magistrate Natasha Galea Scibberas handed the accused a three year conditional discharge and placed the woman and her daughter under a protection order for 12 months.
