Residents evacuated following fire in Sliema
Residents evacuated from block of apartments in Sliema following a fire, the police say.
Residents of a block of apartments in St Anthony Street, Sliema were this afternoon evacuated because of a fire which broke out in a flat.
The police said that no one was injured in the apartment fire, which seems to have been caused by an air conditioning unit.
Earlier on, the police were called after smoke emerged from a disused showroom close to Mizzi House in Blata l_Bajda.
Smoke was seen coming out of a shaft, and the police said that the flames, whose source seems to be a shaft belonging to an adjacent building, were quickly extinguished by fire fighters. No one was hurt in the fire.
