Police board inquiry into Darryl Luke Borg prosecution completed
Report being evaluated by Commissioner of Police
Findings from the police board inquiry into the wrongful prosecution of 27-year-old Darryl Luke Borg are expected to be issued imminently, MaltaToday is informed.
The report, compiled by judge emeritus Franco Depasquale, was delivered to the home affairs minister Manuel Mallia and Commissioner of Police Peter Paul Zammit.
The Commissioner will be responsible for its evaluation, and to assess what steps be taken over allegations that Borg was prosecuted negligently by the police force, over the hold-up of a Birkirkara store.
The inquiry led to criticism by the Nationalist Party, calling for the resignation of the police commissioner as well as that of Mallia's chief of staff, Silvio Scerri, for having allegedly communicated with a former criminal convict - Charles Attard 'iz-Zambi' - in a bid to bring Borg to testify before the board.
