Five cars extensively damaged by horse in Valletta
Horse damages five cars in Valletta after bolting from horse cab shelter, police say.
Five cars were extensively damaged when a horse drawing a cab bolted this morning at around 11 am outside the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Triq il-Mediterran, Valletta.
The police said that preliminary investigations found that the horse, which was injured in the accident, was tied to the column of a horse cab shelter when it bolted.
Attempts by the 35-year-old cabby from Birkirkara, to restrain it were futile after it ripped the strap it was tied with and fled.
Disoriented, the horse crashed into an Opel Corsa driven by a man, 59, residing in St Paul's Bay, who consequently collided with a Renault Megane driven by a 48-year-old man from Fgura.
The horse then lost its footing and collided into a Nissan Primera driven by a 38-year-old man from Zebbug, before rising and wedging itself between two parked cars, a Toyota Vitz and a Mercedes Benz C220, where it fell and was restrained.
