Suspended sentence for man caught with 17 cannabis pieces

Court hands down one-year suspended sentence after man is found guilty of having 300g of cannabis at his house.

Johnny Aquilina, 25 of Qormi, was handed a one-year jail term suspended for four, for being in possession of 300 grammes of cannabis resin.

On 20 June 2006, the police raided Aquilina's residence where the drugs - specifically 17 pieces of cannabis resin already cut - were found, suggesting the drug was not for the accused's personal use.

But Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras argued that the prosecution failed to prove the drug was not for personal use.

Magistrate Galea Sciberras sentenced Aquilina to a year's jail term suspended for four years. Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared for the accused.

Resin is the processed product of the plant. To have 300gr in resin is equivalent to much much much more in weight of plant material. So compare this to Daniel Holmes who only had a few baby plants and got 11yrs plus €23,000... oh yes... Daniel isn't Maltese. When will this country grow up and legalise what God created and said "it is GOOD"??
