Man threatened his mother in prison
A man accused of threatening to kill his mother and assaulting her, again threatened his parent when she visited him in jail.
Hamrun man Gaetano Micallef, 29, today stood in the court of Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona, charged with assaulting and threatening his mother and grievously injuring his brother.
On 14 September, Micallef was remanded in custody after being arraigned under arrest. He was also charged with making his relatives fear that violence would be used against them.
Prosecuting inspector Robert Vella presented a report stating that when Micallef's mother last visited her son in prison, he again threatened to kill her.
Probation officer Glenn Grixti took the witness stand and explained that Micallef had drug issues and that he was in dire need of psychological assistance. Micallef is already under medication and in the care of a psychiatrist. The accused consented to have his medical file accessed by psychiatrists appointed by the court. The case was put off until the court medical expert finalise the report.
