Man in danger of dying after lift falls

A hotel employee is in danger of dying after a lift fell on him. According to the police, the man was repairing the door of an elevator when the lift collapsed and crushed him.

The incident happened at around 9:20am in Dragonara Road, St Julian's.

Preliminary investigations found that the man, 34 of Birkirkara, realised that the sixth floor doorway to the elevator had jammed half open and tried to fix it. However, as he was trying to do so, the lift fell.

The employee received first assistance by his colleagues until the arrival of a hospital ambulance.

The man was certified to be in critical condition.
