Egyptian man charged with causing grievous bodily harm, granted bail

A man of Egyptian origin, residing in Qawra, was this morning granted bail subject to a personal guarantee of €10,000 and under express conditions.

Ali Mohamed Younes Mohamed, 31, was charged with voluntarily causing grievous and permanent injuries to Zayid Anani Ahmed on 10th October 2013 and for being in illegal possession of a sharp object which could be used as a weapon.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri granted Mohamed a bail of €700 and warned him that in no circumstances must he meet, speak or voluntarily go anywhere in the vicinity of Zayid Anani.

He is also legally required to register at the Qawra police station no less than three times a week, inform police about any address change and be available to report to police when reported for.
