Updated | Police discover body in Mellieha

Following discovery of missing man’s car in Mellieha, police find human body, which is yet to be identified. Russian man reportedly held.

Following the discovery of a human body in Mellieha  yesterday afternoon, the police have launched a murder investigation, with the body believed to be that of Pawlu Grech who was reported missing on 10 October.

The find was made following the discovery of a car belonging to Pawlu Grech at l-Ahrax tal-Mellieha.

According to news portal inewsmalta.com, a Russian man has been arrested in connection with yesterday's developments.

The body was found at around 2.30pm but the police have not yet identified the body, which was discovered stuck in a crevice.

Traces of blood were also found a few metres away and the body appeared to have suffered knife wounds.

The intensive search at l-Ahrax tal- Mellieha commenced after the police were informed that an Isuzu Gemini belonging to Pawlu Grech, who went missing on 10 October was spotted.

After finding the car at 10am the police searched the area and found a body which was covered with garbage bags.
