92-year-old in court over firearm possession
Elderly Frenchman pleads guilty to illegal importation and exportation of weapon, sentenced to six months in jail, suspended for a year.
A 92-year-old Frenchman was arraigned in court after a .22 pistol and blank cartridges were found in his luggage at the airport.
The arrest was made yesterday at around 2:05pm at the Malta International Airport.
George Charles Andre pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him. He was handed a six-month jail term suspended for a year.
Both the weapon and the cartridges were confiscated.
Inspector Silvio Magro led the prosecution.
