Rightful owner buys stolen items from Maltapark

Two men are charged with handling stolen property after items are identified on Maltapark and bought back by the rightful owner.

Etienne Pace, 30 of Qormi was conditionally discharged for three years while co-accused Jonathan D'Amato, 24 of Qormi, pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody. The two were charged with handling stolen property.

Prosecuting inspector Joseph Agius heard how the owner of a number of stolen items found his possessions on Maltapark. He bought the items back and informed the police. The items included agricultural tools and a BBQ set valued at 700.

Magistrate Anthony Vella conditionally discharged Etienne Pace and remanded in custody Jonathan D'Amato after the latter insisted he was not involved in the crime.

Lawyer Dorianne Vella appeared for D'Amato while Franco Debono appeared for Pace.
