Man shoots partner's father after row • mother and daughter injured in argument.
A man has been shot dead by his daughter's former partner after the two were involved in an argument. The woman, 27, and a girl were also injured in the argument.
The 27-year-old mother of four is suffering from grievous injuries while her three-year-old daughter suffered light injuries.
The victim is John Caruana, 61 of Kalkara, police sources have confirmed.
The murder took place late this morning in Triq San Leonardu, Kalkara in broad daylight after the young mother and her former partner, Godwin Scicluna, started fighting.
An argument ensued between Caruana and Scicluna, aged 52, which resulted in the fatal shooting. Shots from a hunting gun were fired.
The Police said the mother grabbed her four children and sought refuge at a neighbour's home who happened to belong to an officer member of the Rapid Intervention Unit.
Scicluna was in fact arrested by this same officer before the arrival of the police.
According to initial information gathered on site, the couple - who together have four children - had separated after the woman ended the relationship. It appears that the woman had taken the children to see their father.
Police Inspectors Chris Pullicino and Michael Mallia are leading the investigations.
