Iraqi jailed over traces of cannabis

Iraqi youth is jailed for 7 months after police find traces of Cannabis on him.

Hussein Adbullah Ramadan, 25 of Iraq, was imprisoned for seven months after traces of Cannabis were found in his possession

The accused,who resides in Siggiewwi and pleaded guilty to all charges, was also charged with trafficking Cannabis resin and relapsing.

Prosecuting Inspector Nikolai Sant told the court how officers of the Rapid Intervention Unit patrolling the Sliema area observed two foreigners acting suspiciously. The officers stopped the two and searched them. Traces of cannabis, amounting to less than a gram were found on one of the suspects. Hussein Adbullah Ramadan admitted to having sold the Cannabis resin to the other man.

Considering Ramadan's guilty plea and his police record, Magistrate Doreen Clarke handed the accused a seven month jail term and ordered the destruction of the exhibited drug.

7 months imprisonment for less than a gram of cannabis. I cannot bring myself to respect the Maltese judiciary system anymore, or any of its judges. The system is frankly deplorable and has no place in the civilised world.
