Fantasy Tours client acquitted of harassment

A disgruntled Fantasy Tours client who lost his holiday after the company folded is acquitted of harassing and threatening the parents of former director Karl Azzopardi.

Steve John Micallef, 35 of Zebbug was acquitted harassing the parents of Fantasy Tours owner Karl Azzoppardi and threatening them, after prosecution fails to substantiate charges.

Prosecuting inspector Joseph Busuttil told the court how Emanuel and Emma Azzopardi filed a police report over threats received as a Facebook message.

Micallef, is one of the clients who had their holiday cancelled and not refunded when Fantasy Tours folded earlier this year. The alleged victims alleged the accused sent them a message on Facebook stating that unless their son Karl Azzopardi refunds him his holiday money, the Micallef will go after them.

The accused resorted to leaving messages against the firm on social network Facebook after his repeated calls to be refunded his money were left unheeded.

Magistrate Charmaine Galea held the prosecution failed to prove the Facebook messaged harassed or contained threats, and acquitted the accused

Lawyer Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared for the accused.
