Naxxar motorist granted bail after reacting violently to MP in road-rage incident
An MP was punched in the face in a road-rage incident that took place in St Andrew's.
According to a source, the assailant, Philip Vella - 41 of Naxxar - assaulted the Labour MP Joe Sammut after the latter allegedly hurled abusive words at him in a road-rage incident outside the Luxol Grounds.
Zahra pleaded not guilty to assaulting and slightly injuring the MP, after he stopped his car near the Luxol Grounds during the incident on Sunday, and approached the MP's car holding a knife.
Zahra punched the MP on the face and left the scene. He was accompanied by his wife.
Sammut reported the man's license plate to the police and filed a complaint.
Zahra was granted bail against a deposit of €500 and personal guarantee of €2,000.

What?An MP using foul and abusive language-perish the thought?Still that's no excuse for violence but what would have happened to the alleged attacker if his victim had not been an MP?
