Elderly woman robbed at home

About €1,000 and jewellery belonging to an elderly woman were stolen from a residence today, December 2, 2013, at about 2.10 a.m., in Triq il-Kbira, Ħal Qormi.

Preliminary investigations found that the woman, 80, was awakened by unusual noises. She woke up to find two hooded persons beside her bed who threatened her with a knife and demanded money and the jewellery she was wearing.

The woman immediately complied after which the robbers fled the house without causing her injury.

Signs of forced entry were noted by the police on the residence's front door.

Further investigations are underway.
