Man charged with Paceville stabbing
Bormla man charged with the attempted murder of a person in Paceville while in a drunken stupor, remanded in custody after pleading not guilty
Spiridione Costa, 48 of Bormla was this afternoon arraigned over the attempted murder of Paul Galea, in Paceville. Galea was grievously injured in the incident.
Prosecuting inspector Trevor Micallef explained to the court how during the night of 30 November, while drunk, Costa threatened and assaulted two other men. The Bormla man was charged with grievously injuring Paul Galea, causing slight injuries to Sean Borg, threatening and assaulting the two victims and carrying an unlicensed firearm and a knife. Costa was also charged with breaching public peace and good order, and being drunk in public.
The accused himself suffered injuries to his face and chest, however he could not recall who assaulted him. The court appointed court expert Mario Scerri to medically examine the accused's injuries.
Duty Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit remanded the accused in custody.
