80 pending trials since 2002

The criminal courts still have to deal with 80 trials by jury that accumulated in the past 11 years. 

Replying to a Parliamentary Question by Jason Azzopardi, the Prime Minister said the ‘oldest’ pending trial dates back to 2002. There is also a pending trial from 2006 and another from 2007.

The numbers increase from 2008 onwards. There are still twenty trials pending from last year, and another fourteen this year.
