Robbers target peacemaker's taxi
Taxi driver’s car is stolen while trying to calm down argument between brother and group of men
A taxi belonging to a 58-year-old man from Gwardamangia was stolen in Sliema this morning.
Police said that the incident occurred this morning around 7:00am when a taxi driven by a 45-year-old man from Floriana was stopped in Gzira by a group of persons in the middle of the road.
An argument ensued while insults were traded.
At the same time, the 45-year-old man's brother, a 58-year-old from Gwardamangia, also a taxi-driver, stopped at the scene to calm the situation and aid his brother and his 16-year-old nephew who was also a passenger.
Upon exiting from his car, the 58-year-old taxi driver had his car stolen.
It was later found abandoned at Triq il-Bir, Naxxar.
A 28-year-old Eriteran man from Hamrun has since been arrested while helping the police with their investigations.
