Updated | Armed robber runs off with €2,000 in Paola hold-up

22-year-old cashier and patrons escape unharmed as masked robber escapes in vehicle

Police are on the lookout for a man who is believed to have stolen over €2,000 in cash during a hold-up on a betting establishment this evening.

Initial investigations suggest that a masked robber wielding a pistol threatened the cashier before stealing the cash and escaping.

The incident occurred this evening in Tarxien Road, Paola at around 7.10 pm.

The 22-year-old cashier from Marsa was not injured.

Also present during the hold-up were several patrons, all of whom escaped unharmed.

The robber is on the run after escaping in a vehicle. 

Police said that around €2,000 was stolen. 

Investigations are ongoing while a magisterial inquiry was launched.
