Five arrested over drugs

Five men were arrested over the discovery of drugs, among other items, by the Drugs Squad in a series of raids and searches throughout the night between Saturday and Sunday.

The men, three Maltese and two Spaniards, are aged between 41 and 53 and live in Qawra, Xemxija and Spain.

The operation yielded 3.5 kilogrammes of cannabis grass, 500 grammes of cocaine, 300 grammes of heroin, a small amount of cannabis resin, two firearms and cash.

Although investigations are still underway, two of the Maltese and the foreigners are expected to be arraigned in the coming days.
