Updated | Woman succumbs to injuries

Karen Cutajar, 37 of St Paul's Bay, succumbed to the injuries following a traffic incident in Salini road, Naxxar.

This is the second fatality of 2014 caused by a traffic accident.

The woman was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital in critical condition shortly after 2.40pm.

Preliminary investigations revealed that for unknown reasons, the Fiat Seicento Cutajar was driving collided head on with a truck driven by a 28-year-old man.

Civil Protection personnel had to intervene in order to get the woman out of her vehicle. Following the accident, Salina road was temporarily closed.

Police investigations are still underway.
