Union files protest over stop to BOV collective agreement negotiations
General Workers Union files judicial protest claiming MUBE warrant of prohibitory injunction stopping collective agreement negotiations between the union and BOV, is frivolous and malicious.
The General Workers Union has filed a judicial protest against the Malta Union of Bank Employees, claiming that it has sole recognition of the managerial and clerical staff at Bank of Valletta and that it can enter into negotiations on their behalf.
In its judicial protest the union said a warrant of prohibitory injunction filed by MUBE to stop the collective agreement negotiations between the GWU and the bank, was unfounded and unjustified.
"The MUBE neither claimed nor exhibited any proof that it represents the majority of the bank's employees in managerial and clerical posts. When the GWU entered into discussion with the bank to revise the collective agreement, the MUBE maliciously filed a warrant of prohibitory injunction with the unique intention of disrupting the process," the plaintiff said.
The GWU asked the court to consider MUBE's warrant frivolous and malicious and declare it null and void. The plaintiffs said they will hold MUBE responsible for any damages BOV employees could suffer due to MUBE's actions.
