A day after his 19th birthday, Libyan national Mohammed Muktar Said Aburwes was handed a one-year conditional discharge after being convicted of a violent indecent assault on a Swiss youth.
Walking down St George's Road, Paceville in a drunken stupor after spending the night celebrating his birthday, Aburwes was said to have assaulted a 20-year old Swiss girl who was walking in the same road. The accused walked up to the youth and manhandled her in a violent and indecent manner.
A number of other youths who happened to be in the same road, witnessed the assault and called the police. The Libyan was arrested on the spot and Inspector Trevor Micallef arraigned him today.
Aburwes pleaded guilty as charged.
