Judiciary members concerned over ‘frequent bomb threats’ in court

Judges and magistrates call for durable solution to “time wasting” bomb scares

Following the latest bomb scare at the law courts in Valletta on Tuesday morning, the association of judges and magistrates issued a statement in which it expressed “serious concern” over the frequency of such bomb threats.

Noting that the law courts in Valletta had been evacuated at least five times over the last three months, describing such threats as a “plague,” the association said that these are damaging the courts and citizens, who many a time end up having their court hearings postponed to another day.

The judges and magistrates called don government to introduce measures and security structures inside the law courts to ensure that in case of such threats, proceeding continue as normal and the building is not evacuated as long as the threats do not pose any real dangers.
