16 months’ prison sentence over minor’s defilement
Magistrate imprisons 52-year-old man for 16 months after he admits to defiling a minor
A 52-year-old man from Qormi was jailed for 16 months after admitting to defiling a 14-year-old boy.
Magistrate Charmaine Galea heard prosecuting officer Melvyn Camilleri recount the facts that led to the man’s arraignment. After meeting the minor in a club, the boy agreed to go with the accused to his residence in Qormi. Subsequently, the man sexually abused the minor.
The man admitted to the charges.
Banning the publication of names for the protection of the minor, the court jailed the 52-year-old for 16-months. Magistrate Galea also placed the minor under a protection order of three years following the man’s release from prison.
Inspector Melvyn Camilleri prosecuted, while legal aid lawyer Joe Ellis appeared for the accused.
