Youth admits to stealing car
Youth faces charges of car theft after police apprehend him during joyride
Wilton Gatt, 18, of Zabbar, was granted bail awaiting judgement after admitting to charges of theft.
Prosecuting inspector Frankie Sammut told the court how on the night of Tuesday 22 April, Gatt stole a Hyundai Accent to the detriment of Steven Zerafa. The youth was apprehended when police officers cut short his joyride.
Gatt was charged with aggravated theft and driving an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle. He pleaded guilty to all charges.
Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras granted the accused bail against a personal guarantee of €2,500. The case was postponed until Monday for judgement.
Inspector Frankie Sammut prosecuted, while lawyer Noel Bartolo appeared for the accused.
