Libyan admits to theft, has jail sentence extended
Libyan man has jail term extended after he pleads guilty to additional thefts.
Abdesalam Briga Rawad, born in Tripoli but currently serving time at the Corradino Prisons, had his jail term extended by a year after admitting to charges of theft.
Prior to his convictions the 29-year old lived in Qormi.
In the early hours of 27 March this year, Rawad stole a handbag from Spanish national Catherine Garzon Vasquez. The incident happened in St Julian’s at a time when the accused was serving a suspended sentence.
Choosing not to have legal representation, the accused admitted all charges. Magistrate Neville Camilleri handed Rawad an additional year in prison.
