Man charged with trafficking six kilos of cannabis

40-year old Rosario Caruso was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to trafficking six kilos of cannabis.

The accused, a Sicilian residing in Swieqi, returned to Malta last Tuesday but was apprehended at the airport. In his possession officers found six kilos of the drug.

Prosecuting officer Nikolai Sant charged Caruso with drug trafficking, drug possession in circumstances showing it was not for his personal use and breaching bail. He pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona remanded the Sicilian in custody.

Lawyers Gianella de Marco and Gianluca Caruana Curran appeared for the accused.
