IT technician acquitted of computer misuse
Court acquits IT technician of computer misuse, ruling the charges had not been sufficiently proven
Joseph Taliana, 30 of Qormi was after acquitted of computer misuse, offending public morals and insulting another person, after prosecution failed to prove the accusations.
After being unable to log into her own Facebook profile because her password was changed without her knowledge, Janeis Slattery, reported to the police that her profile had been hacked.
The culprit had been posting comments and pornographic photos on her profile. She claimed that every log-in which took place in January of the same year had been without her consent.
Police investigations revealed that the account had been accessed from the accused’s residence and from a retail outlet at Mosta Tecnopark.
The accused was the victim’s computer technician. “I never had problems with him until his sister’s boyfriend left her and started seeing me”, she said.
Magistrate Neville Camilleri ruled that none of the charges raised against the accused were proven beyond reasonable doubt. Taliana was acquitted of all charges.
