Gozitan youth in critical condition after traffic accident
Car hit a wall and overturned in Fontana
Four youths between the ages of 16 and 18 were last night involved in a traffic accident in Fontana that left the driver of the car in danger of losing his life.
The accident happened at around 12.30am in Triq ix-Xlendi in Fontana. The driver, an 18-year old from Żebbuġ, Gozo, was driving a Honda Civic when he lost control of the car as he came to a bend. The Honda Civic boundary wall and overturned.
The impact left the four youngsters trapped in the car. Civil Protection rescuers were called to extract the youths from the tangled car and ambulances took them to Gozo General Hospital.
One of the passengers, a 16-year old female, suffered grievous injuries while two male youths, aged 16 and 17, suffered slight injuries. All three passengers are from Xagħra, Gozo.
A magisterial inquiry ordered by Magistrate Joanne Vella Cuschieri is being held and court expert PL Mario Buttigieg was appointed. Gozo Police, led by Inspector Frank Tabone, are investigating this accident.
