Zejtun man remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to seriously injuring his brother
Roderick Grech, 28, of Zejtun, has been remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to seriously injuring his brother during a bar fight in Zejtun.
The incident occurred in the early hours of 28 June, when the accused and his brother, 37-year-old Errol Grech, were involved in a fight at a bar in Zejtun.
Dr Michael Farinara from Mater Dei Hospital confirmed that the attacks were of grievous nature and which could have caused serious and permanent injuries to the victim’s face.
The accused, who stood before the court with visible facial injuries, was only released from Mater Dei Hospital on Monday.
Prosecuting Inspector Johann Fenech charged Grech with attacking and grievously injuring his brother and breaching public order.
The accused plead not guilty.
The fight also saw the arraignment of the accused’s brother, who on Saturday was denied bail after pleading not guilty to causing grievous injuries.
Magistrate Aaron Xuereb denied bail and remanded the accused in custody.
