Car overturns in Paola

The driver, a 36-year-old woman, was injured in the accident, but her injuries are not thought to be serious.

A 36-year-old woman was slightly injured when the Toyota Ractis she was driving overturned in Zabbar Road, Paola, early this afternoon, according to the Civil Protection Department.

A statement issued at that time by the Police Department on its Facebook page warned motorists to “seek alternate routes” to the area as a result of the accident.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of the St Joseph convent at around 12.45pm, according to the same statement.

Contacted by Malta Today, the Civil Protections Department  said that it was called to the scene for assistance but returned as it transpired that there was no need for their intervention. The CPD source had initially said that no one appeared to be injured from the accident but it later transpired that the driver, a 36-year old woman, suffered minor injuries.
