Motorcyclist injured in traffic accident

A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in a traffic accident at about 07:15 this morning in Mellieħa.

Preliminary investigations found that the man, 52, who resides in San Ġwann, was riding a Kawasaki ER 6N when he collided with a Ford Transit being driven by a 39-year-old man who lives in Saint Paul’s Bay.

The motorcyclist was taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified to be in danger of loss of life.

An 18-year-old woman residing in Mellieħa who was riding pillion was also hospitalised but certified to have sustained slight injuries.

Further investigations are underway while several experts have been appointed to assist with a magisterial inquiry.
