Police officer injured during Valletta vs Hibs football match
Two officers assaulted while trying to control a group of Valletta supporters
A police constable was slightly injured in the course of stopping a group of Valletta FC supporters from climbing over a gate and into a restricted area during Sunday's Premier League football match between Valletta and Hibernians.
The incident occurred at about 6:15 p.m., at the National Stadium, Ta' Qali.
The Police’s communications office said the injured police officer and a colleague, were assaulted and subjected to a tirade of abuse while trying to control the rowdy crowd.
A supporter, 35, has been arrested.
Yesterday’s match of the BOV Premier League saw Hibernians winning 2-1.
