Bail granted to Scotsmen after causing public disturbance

Two Scottish holidaymakers were granted bail after creating a public disturbance while drunk in two separate incidents

Two Scotsmen on holiday in Malta have been granted bail after being arrested for causing a public disturbance and damaging property in St. Julians last Sunday.

David Bertram Frame, 21, and Rory Alexander Sinclair Scott, 23, who were arraigned for separate incidents that took place on the same night, were released on bail after being charged with being drunk and disorderly and creating a public disturbance.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli heard Inspector Caroline Fabri testify how Scott was arrested in St. Julians on the 9 November at 21:30, after causing damages amounting to €700 to an EPOS machine to the detriment of Hugo Chetcuti. Scott was charged with causing criminal damage.

His fellow countryman, Frame, was charged for punching a Fiat Punto as it drove past him, damaging it.

As he was arrested, he moved to resist the policemen but slipped. He pulled down a policeman during his fall, causing the officer to suffer slight injuries, which were certified by a doctor.

Lawyer Anthony Cutajar appeared on behalf of Frame, while Scott was represented by Lawyer Gianluca Caruana Curran.
