Car park security guards convicted of stealing from cars
Security guards placed on probation for two years and ordered to carry out 100 hours of community service after admitting to stealing several objects from cars parked in St Julians
Two security guards were this morning placed on probation for two years and ordered to carry out 100 hours of community service after they pleaded guilty to stealing several objects from cars parked in a St Julian’s hotel.
The men, a 50-year-old from Naxxar, and a 29-year-old from Marsaxlokk, admitted to carrying out three thefts from the Intercontinental Hotel car park in St Julian’s in November and December 2013, as well as in May 2014.
The court heard that the two security guards made off with three satellite navigations systems, a camera, and a computer.
The security guards also admitted to damaging the cars, while one of the guards also admitted to relapsing.
Taking their guilty plea into account, Magistrate Carol Peralta placed the men on probation for two years and ordered them to carry out 100 hours of community service.
Police Inspector Arthur Mercieca prosecuted while Lawyers Franco Debono, Marion Camilleri and Angie Muscat were defence counsel.
