90 pills believed to be steroids were found in a prison cell at the Corradino Correctional Facility, the ministry for the home affairs said.
The pills were found in a cupboard during an inspection by 12 members of the Special Response Team.
Disciplinary steps were taken against the prisoner. Further police investigations ongoing.
