Two people run over by vehicle in Birgu

The police were informed of a traffic accident in Triq il-Kottonera in Birgu, yesterday evening at about 19:00.

The police went to the scene of the accident where they certified that two people, a 50 year old woman and a 48 year old man, both Bromla residents, had been run over by a Volkswagen Polo.

The vehicle was being driven by a 21 year old man from Zabbar.

An Ambulance was also called to the scene, and the victims were taken to Mater Dei hospital to receive the necessary medical attention. The woman has been certified as critical, but the man is suffering from slight injuries.

Duty Magistrate Dr C Scerri Herrera was informed about the case  and she has hired various experts to assist her in the investigation. Police investigations are still underway.
