Floriana man charged with raping his wife

A 54-year old man from Floriana has been charged in the Gozitan courts with raping and attempting to indecently assault his wife. In a statement, the police said that the rape incidents have allegedly been going on at a residence in Ghajnsielem for years, the most recent of which was earlier on this month.

The man has pleaded not guilty and presiding Magistrate Dr J Vella Cuschieri released him on bail against a €2,000 deposit and a €10,000 personal guarantee.

The courts also imposed a ban on the publication of the names of the accused man and his victim.
