Iraqi man jailed for using stolen passport
25-year-old sentenced to six months' imprisonment after being caught using a British passport that was not his
A court has handed a custodial sentence to an Iraqi national this morning, after he pleaded guilty to charges of possessing a stolen travel document.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli heard police inspector Mario Haber from the Immigration Office explain how 25-year-old Ali Omer Fahed had been arrested at Malta International Airport on Tuesday, after immigration officials noticed that the UK passport he was using was not his.
Lawyer Yana Micallef Stafrace, defending Fahed, did not contest the charges and Fahed pleaded guilty.
The court sentenced Fahed to an effective jail term of six months’ imprisonment.
