Mqabba men plead not guilty to 2010 theft charges
The pair had allegedly broken in to the house in August 2010 whilst its occupants were staying at their summer residence, taking cash, gold and firearms
Two men from Mqabba appeared in court this morning, charged with stealing from a house in Qrendi in 2010.
Lawyers Franco Debono, Amadeus Cachia and Mark Refalo, appearing on behalf of Saviour Gaffarena, 22 and Christian Parnis, 29, pleaded not guilty to the charges of aggravated theft and handing stolen goods.
Parnis alone was also charged with, and pleaded not guilty to, being in possession of counterfeit banknotes, relapsing and breaching previous conditions imposed on him by the court.
Inspector Carlos Cordina told Magistrate Josette Demicoli how the pair had allegedly broken in to the house in August 2010 whilst its occupants were staying at their summer residence, taking cash, gold and firearms. The value of the items stolen exceeded €4,000, said the inspector.
The case continues.
