Man denies intentionally injuring wife with knife
The accused pleaded not guilty to charges of causing slight injury, threatening his wife and causing her to fear that violence would be used against her.
A 34-year-old man from Hamrun has denied slightly injuring his wife with a knife during a domestic dispute.
The man was arraigned under arrest before Magistrate Ian Farrugia this morning. It is understood that the two argued at their Hamrun home at around midday on Sunday and at one point, the man accidentally struck his wife with a knife.
The accused pleaded not guilty to charges of causing slight injury, threatening his wife and causing her to fear that violence would be used against her.
The magistrate granted the man bail but not before sternly warning him that he is giving him a last chance and any further infractions would be a betrayal of the court.
The court imposed a bail deposit of €2,000 and a personal guarantee of €2,000. He was also ordered to temporarily vacate the matrimonial home and go live with his sister.
Inspector Robert Vella prosecuted. Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri defended the accused.
