A young boxer from the UK was conditionally discharged for eight months, having pleaded guilty to punching four parked cars in a drunken state after he lost a bout.
The man, who is 17 and cannot be named, was charged with having caused €625 worth of damages to a roadsign as well as the the cars, which had been parked on the Tigne seafront, during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The boxer’s defence counsel, lawyer Abigail Bugeja, explained the circumstances of the case to magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit and informed the court that the accused was making arrangements to have the money transferred to him from abroad.
The court granted the man a conditional discharge and ordered him to pay for the damages he caused by Saturday.
