Driver hospitalized after car plummets into plant nursery

A motorist is receiving medical treatment after he drove his car off the Mriehel bypass, to land in a plant nursery below.

The incident happened at about 2:10 pm, when the 27-year-old driver, from Marsaxlokk, lost control of his Toyota Vitz and plummeted one storey into the nursery. The car landed on its roof.

Members of the civil protection deparment and a medical team were on site to assist the driver.

The man’s condition is not yet known.
